Southlands Kids
Southlands Kids programming is for kids aged 1 year-5th grade. Preschoolers and elementary school students use The Gospel Project for Kids curriculum which include a bible lesson where we see Jesus in every story along with age-appropriate activities and application. Sundays in kids ministry are full of fun, learning about Jesus and time with friends!
One major value of Southlands is being a multigenerational community. Because of this, kids worship with the rest of the congregation every Sunday!
We host special Family Worship Sundays where our time of worship is kicked up a notch in fun and energy… you won’t want to miss out!
At Southlands we believe Parents and primary caregivers, before any other institution, are responsible for the discipleship of their children. Our goal is to partner with parents as they shepherd their kids and help provide resources and tools along the way.
Southlands’ mission is to be a Gospel-centered, Spirit-empowered community on mission and we believe our children have a significant role to play within our mission.

Access Ministry
It is our desire for Southlands Church to be welcoming and accessible for all people. We believe everyone is a child of God and our goal is to identify and break down any barriers that keep people with disabilities and their families from being able to fully participate in this church body.
What is Access Ministry? Access Ministry is a buddy system for kids with a variety of abilities. It is our goal to keep the kids in Access Ministry as involved with their age group as possible, while keeping them safe and teaching them about God. All volunteers are trained in how to work with a variety of disabilities and behaviors and there is a special sensory classroom for the kids that need it. A buddy helps ensure kids are safe, have fun, and learn about God, regardless of ability levels. You can access the Parent Questionnaire to set your child up with a buddy.
FAQ for Southlands Kids
Can I stay with my child during class?
For the safety and security of all kids, any adult (whether parent or volunteer) must be background checked before spending time in a classroom. If you feel more comfortable attending class with your child, please contact brea.kids@southlands.net and we would be happy to run a background check.
Can my kids attend class together?
We recommend kids attending kids programming in their age-appropriate classroom as lessons and activities are specifically designed for each age group. Plus, we want kids to enjoy time with their peers! If your children would feel more comfortable attending together on a short-term basis, please connect with the kids ministry director on a Sunday morning or email brea.kids@southlands.net to discuss the best plan for your family.
How does drop off and pick up work?
Kids are dismissed after worship to go to their classrooms. Please walk with your children to ensure they get to the right place! Give a hug, say “see ya later” and head back to the Studio for the sermon. When service is over, please promptly pick up your child in their classroom. You will need to provide your security claim tag to the teacher at pick up.
What are your diaper changing/bathroom policies?
Babies are changed using changing tables in their classrooms where 2 adults are present. Kids preschool and older use restrooms located within kids ministry with minimal involvement on behalf of the volunteers. Volunteers are never permitted to be in a bathroom with a child with the door closed. Full bathroom policies are posted in the kids ministry area. If you would prefer to change your child’s diaper/assist your child in the bathroom, please communicate with the volunteer team ahead of time and you will be paged via text to help your child.
